Cradle Cap? Try This Vegan Hemp Oil Recipe

Sun had Cradle Cap, up until a week ago. His scalp looked like a desert. He was scratching and jerking his head throughout the night because it was itching him and disturbing his sleep. To cure this, I made a recipe that I must share with everyone.

Ingredients

3.5 oz of Nutiva Organic Hemp Oil

1 drop of Blue Chamomile Essential Oil (Matricaria recutita)

1 drop of  Calendula Select CO2

The Calendula Select can be very hard to use because it is thick. I suggest warming it up a bit (but don’t ever boil essential oils. Try dipping the bottle in water that is about 105 degrees for a few minutes).

In a glass jar with a dropper, mix everything together very well. Shake it hard for about a minute. Glass jars are the best for essential oils. Plastic can be broken down by essential oils, so try not to use plastic bottles for you carrier oils that have essential oils in them.

Apply about 7-10 drops of the oils on baby’s scalp where the cradle cap is. You may need more, depending on how bad the cradle cap is. Massage gently.

In general, I like to use hemp oil all over Sun’s body and face. Keeps him smooth and moist.

    this post is right on time because i have to wash and detangle soon. i’ll use a modified version of your recipe for my scalp and hair. plus, i’ll try it as a facial and body moisturizer since i read it’s great for the skin.

    • I use this on my face, body, and hair as well… This is how I got the idea to use it on Sun’s scalp.

      You can had essential oil of rosemary to it for adult use on the scalp. I would add 4 or 5 drops to the recipe I mentions for ADULT use. Rosemary is great for scalp health and getting hair to grow!

    I might try that myself…I have the worst problem with itchy, flaky scalp and have tried everything to curtail it w/no success.

    • Kanika, I eat a lot of healthy EFAs and that has helped my dry scalp and skin tremendously. Lots of avocados, flaxseed oil, and evening primose (don’t do if you are pregnant) and borage oil are exceptional eating oils for skin health. And of course drinking plenty of water. Hope this helps.

        I’m glad you’re not allergic to the avacado oil, I remember giving you some lotion to try and you were worried about the oil since you were unsure if it would have a reaction when used on the skin…
