BTW-thank you sharing your space with and generously devoting attention to a fellow female activist in decolonial veganism.

Despite the "collaboration" discourses one hears so often (as in the academy, ahem, but other industries as well) the territorial nastiness over expertise/attention and the self-importance of so many scholars keeps would-be partners and peers out of the limelight. There is, of course, the group version of that, the academic "clique" –high school all over again.

Again, kudos for sharing and supporting the/your/ our sisterhood.

You're not because that's not YOUR culture. These are just trends and religious practices you stole for yourself because your people HAVE no culture. i agree, if you're not a Rastafarian, not of a Indonesian or african tribe why the hell are you practicing their customs as a FASHION statement. Not only do you lack creativity and originality, you also lack CULTURAL RESPECT. You are devaluing ancient customs into a fucking trend.

You're all a bunch of barbaric cry babies, terrorizing people for hundreds o years, destroying the world with pollution and deforestation then taking from those persons your ancestors enslaved, rapped, tortured and called animals for YOUR OWN. It's the ultimate cultural disrespect in the world. I understand what that woman is feeling, but you never will because you're just a prissy little white child living off the land their fathers killed for, in your own little world pitying yourself. Oh boohoo. Get over yourself

Great talk.

It's true. "Gordita/o" in latin america is a total term of endearment. My mom calls me that to this day. Don't get me wrong. Latin America is profoundly troubled/obsessed when it comes to women's images/physical appearances but "gordita" is a real old-time phrase that has not been corrupted by contemporary media/image issues.

Hispanic populations in the US, as Claudia points, react poorly to the term. I tend not to call my nieces that because they might be negatively affected/ internalize the term in a self-loathing way.

I did my time with the white left and learned that they are not interested in justice for all. They have made a big mess all over the world and want everyone else to ration and clean up the mess they created. I get real tired of them picking on small groups of Indigenoues folk like the ones up in Washington who about one in five year harvest of a whale their traditional food to sustain their people.

Not everyone is vegan or will become a vegan and browbeating them with racist ads isn't helping.

Thanks so much just took down the recipe!

All babies are different. Don't panic. Has nothing to do with being vegan or omnivorous. As long as you and he are eating a holistic diet, he should be getting everything he needs. Do you have a high fat or does he? I give my kids avocado and I make homemade hempseed ice cream. High in fat, protein, and minerals. Lots of calories. I blend hempseed, water, and banana and dates and throw it in the ice cream machine.

Oh he's 15 months now. But I think I may just be overreacting a bit. He's my first child and the non-vegan babies just look so chubby compared to him so it makes me trip out a bit. He's also been eating a bit less so I just start thinking something is wrong. I've only been vegan for three years so and it was hard for me before I had a baby. I can eat more casual but for him everything has to be more planned out.
